In 2014 Cadillac unveiled for their first time ever, a powerful twin turbo V6 engine, the LF3.
The engine's focal performance recipient was the newly revealed third-generation Cadillac CTS. The LF3 was a new step for Cadillac, so they branded the new sport performance model, the CTS V-Sport*. The sub brand was established under the already well known Cadillac V-Series name, and was now set to make its mark!
This forged rod, no lag twin turbo engine had no intentions of playing games. The magnetic GM Alpha Platform CTS V-Sport matched or surpassed the power & track specs found with many brand competitors' same year larger displacement based V8 models! Landing faster quarter mile times, as well as zero to sixty times, than the so-called bigger boys. Magazine reviews, bloggers, and car enthusiasts alike all deemed the CTS V-Sport, "The V8 Killer".
In terms of performance, luxuries, size, and cost, the CTS V-Sport rounds out to be the pound for pound best "total package" ever offered by Cadillac.
Do you know what could make it better though? A performance tune from Team Schmidty! This stock 420 horsepower machine has reached quarter mile times of 11.8 seconds on 93 octane with merely a "tune-alone" from Schmidty! While also being fully capable of running the quarter mile in just 10 seconds while sustaining well over 600+ RWHP with upgraded turbos, downpipes, and flex fuel modifications.
*previously "Vsport" in 2014-2015. The CTS V-Sport and the sub brand dissolved in 2019 and was replaced by less powerful turbocharged engines in 2020 found in the CT4 & CT5 cars, which are now designated with full V-Series base branding and fall behind the new pinnacle branding of Cadillac's "Blackwing" title.
