Some tuners out there are more interested in pushing parts on customers to run up a high bill, when they may not need these parts at all. Other companies have made plenty of bogus claims over the years in terms of what can and can not be done and what parts gain power and so on. One thing I can say about me, is I will never lie to you and push you to buy parts you dont need to reach your goal. There is a reason my ATSV customers have the fastest cars in the world mod for mod, my cars simply outperform with less when compared to the others. Schmidty tuning is the only ATSV tuner that im aware of doing E30 or higher tunes on the stock fuel system with great results on the LF3/LF4 platforms, while other companies are more interested in trying to sell the customer on thousands of dollars worth of parts, we have allowed many customers to pick up significant power running E30 on the stock fuel system for very little cost. We have had ATSVs make anywhere from 540-590WHP on E30 tunes and have run as quick as 10.5 in the 1/4 mile. Not bad for a tune and 300 dollar flex sensor.
Other companies claim to be for the community but actions speak louder then words, while they take OEM parts and mark them up 100% or more, schmidty tuning is here to help customers get the parts they need at the lowest price possible.

Theres a lot of smoke and mirrors out there and deceptive marketing, the ATSV world is no exception. While some may want to mislead people into believing false narratives, the actual history and facts of the ATSV platform is pretty clear.
Make sure you do your research and talk to people in the community, there are many people that have worked with multiple tuners that can offer great insight.

"Let me just save you the time and the money, go with SCHMIDTY TUNING for your LF4 platform first and never look back. My ATS-V has had a tune from both of the other popular tuners, I will not name them but you should know who they are. So I have real world experience in comparing the tunes, the process and the customer service from each company. I spent a lot of money and time tuning this car before I found Justin Schmidty. If I could do it all over again, I would only work with Justin. The way he custom designs the tune for YOUR SPECIFIC CAR is very important for the best drivability and performance. I did not experience this from the competitors tuning process. The car was fast at WOT, but it was annoying to drive and always had little issues that for some reason could not be fixed or smoothed out. It is a manual transmission so I'm guessing it takes a little more skill to create a great all around driving experience than the A8. Honestly, I was losing love for the car.
Then, I was referred to Justin by a few local ATS-V owners. After only a few iterations he got the Caddy feeling so amazing, it was like a completely different car. Every little aspect was better from the cold start, idling, normal driving, to WOT pulls. The car is faster than ever and most importantly, WAY easier to drive. The annoying issues have been worked out by Justin's tuning abilities. His customer service and responsiveness are on another level. He really cares about getting your car set up the best it can be, which I truly cannot say from my experiences with the other tuners for the LF4 platform.

The simple answer is NO. The dyno is a tool. Like any tool, it is only as good as the operator. Shops with dynos like to claim that dyno tunes are somehow magically going to produce a better tune but that is just nonsense, a poor tuner is not going to be able to produce a good tune just because the car is strapped down on the dyno.
Its also important to note that all dynos read differently. I would be very cautious of people that want to emphasize inflated dyno numbers as a selling point. Most of the time these cars with inflated dyno numbers underperform. Many times I have seen cars getting beat by cars that they supposedly make 100+ MORE horsepower than.
The fastest stock turbo ATSV in the world has never been on a dyno, if I can produce the fastest stock turbo ATSV in the world using datalogs from real world/track driving, then a dyno is certainly not needed to dial in your ATSV.
When it comes to progressing the tuning of the ATSV/LF4 platform, nobody had a greater effect on the platform than Schmidty tuning, its important to note who was the first to move the platform forward, and why that was the case.
Since we started working with the ATSV platform we have produced more quick ATSVs than any other tuner in the world, despite others having multiple year head starts and other advantages, we have more ATSVs that have run 10s or better in the 1/4 than anyone else
We were the first to put a stock turbo ATSV in the 9s and we currently own the fastest stock turbo ATSV in the world, despite others trying their hardest and throwing much more extensive modificiations at their cars
At a time when ATSVs were lucky to break into the 10s in the 1/4 mile with 10-15k dollars in modifications or more, Schmidty tuning came along and broke the ATSV out of its shell, immediately breaking the longstanding world record on the platform and putting a full weight, stock turbo, stock cam, no meth, ATSV into the basement 10s and eventually a short time later, into the 9s, something that was said to be impossible many times over for years prior.
We were the first to have ATSVs cutting 1.3 and 1.4 60 foots consistently while others spent years struggling to do better than 1.6 or worse 60 foot times. In fact, our improvements in the cars 1/4 mile ET and 60 foots were so much faster than anyone else had achieved on the platform for years, competitors claimed we must have been cheating and using nitrous based on their customers 1/4 mile data from previous years.
We were the first to put a stock turbo ATSV in the 9s in the 1/4 mile.
We were the first to put a stock turbo ATSV into the 5s 60-130.
We were the first to put an ATSV into the 10s on 93 octane.
We were the first to put a stock fuel system ATSV in the 9s

The amazing thing about all of these achievements is they were done by average people with very affordable builds on their cars, everyday daily drivers, driven to and from the track.
Mod for mod, schmidty tuning produces the fastest ATSVs out there, consistently.
Be cautious of companies trying to use outlandish dedicated drag cars and shop car builds with no budget to gain your business. There is a very big difference between producing a quick, well driving, reliable street car, and a dedicated drag car. Its not difficult to make a car fast when its a dedicated drag car that you can rip every pound out of it, run very light drag brakes, drag wheels, run a combo that may have terrible reliability on the street, but as long as it last 1/4 mile at a time on the track, you are good. At the end of the day, throwing a bunch of money at a car to build a dedicated drag car simply does not produce better results for your average bolt on ATSV owner.
